World of Dylan Keynote: Happy Traum

We continue to rollout our keynote speakers for the 2023 World of Dylan by announcing that we’ll be welcoming Happy Traum, a stalwart of the Greenwich Village music scene of the 1960s and the Woodstock music scene of the 1970s and 1980s.

For several years, he studied blues guitar with Brownie McGhee, who deeply influenced his guitar style. Traum is most famously known as one half of Happy and Artie Traum, a duo he began with his brother.[2] They released several albums, including Happy and Artie Traum (1969, Capitol),[3] Double Back (1971, Capitol), and Hard Times In The Country (1975, Rounder). He has continued as a solo artist and as founder of Homespun Music Instruction.

On Saturday, June 3, he’ll discuss “Coming of Age in Greenwich Village Folk Revival, 1954-1971”–a mix of music and memories, including his encounters with Dylan in that mid-century cauldron of creativity.

Register now to join us for this talk as well as dozens of other sessions featuring keynotes, artist conversations, roundtable discussions, musical performances, and much more. Conference events will be held at the Hyatt Regency in downtown Tulsa, which has made a special rate available for conference attendees.
